Biological Safety Cabinets, Chemical Fume Hoods, and Ventilated Enclosures are used by Formulations personnel routinely.  These devices provide ventilated work areas to help ensure personnel safety and aseptic integrity.

The trainee will perform the following activities under supervision of the trainer:

1. Locate the safety hoods and ventilated enclosures found in the Formulations Laboratory;
2. Determine what type of ventilated safety device is appropriate for the material you are working with;
3. Describe the direction of air flow for these devices;
4. Operate these devices at the proper flow conditions;
5. Demonstrated knowledge of the procedures to follow in the event of a low flow alarm;
6. Clean the safety hoods and ventilated enclosures.
