Nitrogen containing 5,6-bicyclic aromatics are prevalent scaffolds in drug compounds.  This course focuses on the reactivity and synthesis of indoles, azaindoles, benzimidazoles, purines and indazoles.  These points are then exemplified by two case studies demonstrating the application of the topics covered to medicinal chemistry programmes.
