Math Problem Solution Correction

Good morning,

We have an incorrect solution for one the drug calculation problems in this week's session which changes all the solutions. The presentation has been corrected.

Problem set:

Metacam = 0.5mg/ml (15ml bottle)

Weight of dog = 15kg

Loading dose - 0.09mg/kg

Maintenance dose = 0.045mg/kg

How much should the dog be given for loading and maintenance dose, and how long will the bottle of Metacam last?

Solutions:

Correction: Convert weight from kg to pounds (multiply kg by 2.2 lb (conversion factor: 1 kg = 2.2 lb) when converting from kg to pounds, the number will always increase

Answers:

Weight = 33lbs

Loading dose = 2.97mg, Maintenance = 1.5mg

Amount to give Day 1 = 6ml, Maintenance = 3ml

After day 1 you will have 9ml left and the bottle will last 4 days (includes the loading dose).

Please let us know if you have any questions.
