The risk for sustaining a sharps injury is eliminated when needles or other sharp objects are substituted with alternative needleless systems.  We also discussed many types of safer sharps devices and various methods for isolating sharp objects through engineering controls.

This course will focus on:

• Recognizing ways to eliminate or reduce the use of needles  and other sharps
• Identifying devices with safety features used to isolate sharps
• Review safer practices to minimize risk for remaining hazards
