Module 04.0 Course 01: Animal Care, Health and Management - Mouse
About this Course:
The quality of care provided to laboratory animals has a significant impact on their health and welfare. There is mounting scientific evidence that inconsistent, inadequate environments that do not meet the animal's physical, behavioural, or social needs can cause physiological alterations, which in turn compromise the validity (and/or reproducibility) of experimental results.
It is therefore critical to understand the biology and behaviour of the animal species to provide an adequate environment which is appropriate for them.
Legislation and recommendations provide minimum standards for laboratory animal care and husbandry, and these must be understood and applied.
