Purpose:

This policy describes the requirements and practices expected for proper formulation and use of non-pharmaceutical grade anesthetic Tribromoethanol (TBE). TBE is a commonly used non-pharmaceutical grade anesthetic and is subject to the CRADL Substance Administration policy. TBE has certain chemical properties that affect storage and use which are detailed in this document. TBE must be formulated and used as described below and furthermore, any proposed deviation from this policy must be fully detailed and justified to the IACUC in the animal use protocol.
